แมคเคลน คอลเลจ (Macleans College) เป็นโรงเรียนสหศึกษาของรัฐ รับนักเรียนตั้งแต่ Year 9-13 โรงเรียนก่อตั้งขึ้นในปี 1980  ตั้งอยู่บนพื้นที่ 32 เอเคอร์ (ประมาณ 80 ไร่) ในย่านที่อยู่อาศัยระดับดีของโอ๊คแลนด์ เมืองใหญ่ที่สุดของนิวซีแลนด์ แวดล้อมด้วยชายหาดสวย และชุมชนที่ปลอดภัยของ  East Auckland ซึ่งประชากรจำนวนหนึงเป็นชาวจีนย้ายถิ่นฐาน โรงเรียนนี้จึงมีสัดส่วนของนักเรียนที่มาจากประเทศจีนค่อนข้างสูง เมื่อเทียบกับโรงเรียนอื่นๆ ในนิวซีแลนด์

แมคเคลน เป็น academic school นักเรียนของที่นี่หากเรียนได้ดีจะมีทางเลือกในการเรียนต่อระดับมัธยม 2 ปีสุดท้ายในโปรแกรม Cambridge International Examination (Cambridge AS-Level ในชั้น Year 12 และ Cambridge A-Level ในชั้น Year 13) ซึ่งทำให้นักเรียนมีทางเลือกในการไปศึกษาต่อมหาวิทยาลัยในต่างประเทศได้สะดวกยิ่งขึ้น  

ตั้งแต่ปี 2020 เป็นต้นมา Macleans ได้ยกเลิกการสอน NCEA Level 1 ในชั้น Year 11 แต่ใช้หลักสูตรใหม่ที่ทางโรงเรียนพัฒนาขึ้นมาเองเรียกว่า Macleans Certificate หรือ MCert เพื่อเตรียมตัวนักเรียนเข้าสู่การเรียน NCEA Level 2 หรือ Cambridge AS-Level ในระดับ year 12 โดย MCert เป็นหลักสูตรวิชาการเข้มข้นและทำให้มีเวลาเรียนเพิ่มขึ้นราวๆ 4 สัปดาห์ โดยการตัด Internal accessment  ของ NCEA Level 1 กับ External Assessment ของ IGCSE ออกไป

Macleans College ยังเป็น 1 ใน 4 โรงเรียนมัธยมในเมือง Auckland ที่เป็นศูนย์สอบ SAT ทำให้การกลับมาต่อมหาวิทยาลัยไทยหรือการไปเรียนต่อในสหรัฐอเมริกามีความสะดวกมากยิ่งขึ้นไปอีก ด้วย Testing Facilities on site ทำให้การจองรอบสอบ SAT เป็นเรื่องใกล้ตัว ในขณะที่นักเรียนที่อยู่โรงเรียนอื่นต้องเดินทางมาที่นี่ หรือเดินทางมาจากส่วนอื่นของเกาะเหนือ

ทุนการศึกษา

แต่ละปีมีนักเรียนจาก Macleans ได้ทุนการศึกษาเพื่อศึกษาต่อระดับมหาวิทยาลัยเป็นจำนวนมาก ทั้งจากรัฐบาลนิวซีแลนด์  และจากมหาวิทยาลัยทั้งในประเทศนิวซีแลนด์และในประเทศอื่นๆ นักเรียนจากที่นี่สร้างชื่อเสียงให้นิวซีแลนด์ทั้งในระดับประเทศและในระดับนานาชาติ  โรงเรียนมีโปรแกรมแลกเปลี่ยนนักเรียนกับจีน เกาหลี และชิลี

Macleans College place second in Auckland Region ShowQuest
This year the nationwide student-led ShowQuest dance competition was changed to an on screen competition where students had to create a self-filmed video exploring a theme.

Nineteen medals achieved at Secondary School Swimming Championships
The Secondary School Swimming Championships was held last week at Waterworld in Hamilton from 15 – 18 October.

Junior Sports exchange
On Friday 16 October, Macleans College hosted a group of 70 junior students from Onehunga High School to compete in the Inaugural Sports Exchange between the two schools.

Māori leadership programme 2020
A group of Year 11 Macleans College Māori students had the opportunity to participate in the Kei a tātou te ihi (KATTI) Māori leadership programme held at Waipapa Marae on Thursday 15 October.
